Good morning ppl!!!
Today is Sunday 14th of Feb 2010 and world today wakes up to celebrate valentines day! Ofcourse you have the kar sevaks, MNS, shiv sena and all those shitty ppl who would try to ruin this day of "love" for couples but that's a different thing altogether. Anyways... I wish everyone a very happy valentines'day. However this post has got nothing to do abt how holy this day is and how we should be lucky to have a guy/girl whom we wanna spend out lives with cos frankly speaking this is a sad day for more than half of the ppl in the world and majority of break ups happen on this day. No! This post is about something which is far more searious than that....
Ever stopped and wondered what you are giving the next generation when they would be born ?
I mean sure you are giving them technology that they can rely on, better educational and health services but is that the only thing that they would wanna see? We in our schools read A for Apple, B for ball..... F for fish.... T for tigers...... Do you really think they would be there when our future generations grow up? A great deal of fishes would be wiped out and according to the new estimate there are only 1411 tigers left in India and I seriously think that these numbers would also die along with us.
Imagine the size of India on the planet earth... its enormous, however only 1411 tigers left? That's 1 tiger to 7,08,717.22 ppl considering that there are 1 billion ppl in India right now. I am pretty sure that most of them did not even see a tiger in their lives till now. Scary isint it ? Imagine when you say "Tiger" to a kid in the future, what would you show him/her? A pic in a book of alphabets or take them to a zoo to show them how pathetic a tiger looks in a cage (which is ofcourse not possible cos it would be wiped out in future)?
We humans are a pathetic race of ppl and more violent and destructive than animals. Atleast an animal would try to harm you if it were provoked or attacked but we do it just for "Fun" and cos we are so bloody selfish we just want everything on this earth to be "ours" which by the way hasnt gon e a good way cos we have managed to fuck up the earth so beautifully that even aliens must be thanking their stars that they didnt contact us till now. BUt the fact of the matter still remains that its our greed and thirst of superficial things that has led to such a sorry state of beautiful animals on this planet. No one but ourselves to blame. Some rich girl somewhere wants a expensive present and the boyfriend/finacee would run into a jungle, kill a tiger and present her with its skin. Tiger hunting is also done by slow ass rich men who wanna feel more manly in life. And what do they do? Take a group of 15-20 ppl, make noise and kill a tiger with a gun! If you really have guts, why not use your hands to kill one. I am sure the tiger would kill you faster than you could piss in ur pants seeing one!! If the same thing were to happen the other way round, humans would get geared up and kill the animal. If we can do that, why shoudnt the animals do that to us? Isint it fair to them??
Another creature that would face extintion are the sea creatures! Think this.. World is 70% water and 30% land which means that the majority stake holders on this planet are the sea creatures and we as humans should be greatful that they have let us live and survive on this planet and should try to do something about preserving the great oceans and its population but No!! We think that the earth is 70% land, 20% of the waste that we dump in the waters and 10% of sea creatures who are there placed by god so that we can eat them and relish that taste. Agreed sea food might be tasty for some ppl and they like it but if you are thinking globally, look how the brutal hunting is done and how are the species are dying! The great coral reef has a great importance on this planet and that's going too thanks to the industries who thought that dumping their waste in the oceans was more profitable than processing it and then releasing it when it was not so much a danger!
Now I dont believe in joining groups on facebook/orkut/twiter and all those networking sites cos just dont wanna join in for the heck of it but a hording while coming to office and an ad on TV did its trick for me which asks us to blog about it in anyway. It made me think about what would happen in future. That's the reason I blog about it and urge you all to blog and atleast write what you feel as I am sure every blog has its share of ppl who follow it and even if its read once, the seed of thought is planted.
So not on a networking site but I pledge my support for the tigers and support the Aircel save the tigers cause cos I think tigers are beautiful species of animals and more importantly everything should be done that can be done cos after all its us who owe them an apology as human kind. :)
Cheers.
1411 tigers left.... :(

true .. but most animals are killed becos:
1. there is demand for it
2. the ppl who kill hav no better means to support themselves
We stop the demand by creating awareness. but the supply cannot be stopped unless the hunters are provided with an alternative means of living.
THe reason there is demand for it is because we as humans have taken for granted that whatever walks on this planet is ours for taking! Just cos animals dont speak doesnt mean that its right!
Ppl who kill are mostly poachers who do it for money and that too quick money! Anything illegal is worth a lot in this world which is ironic considering that all illegal things are that way cos they are harmful for you.
India being the second most populated country in the world has a population which exceeds 1.2 billion. A country with such huge a population is now left with tigers with an astonishing number as low as 1409(revised). Tiger being India's national animal is now one among the endangered species. This is mainly due to ruthless reasons like hunting and poaching for tiger skins which is said to possess medicinal value. Also the clearing of forests leads to the loss of tigers in addition to various other species. Deforestation not only displaces homes of these species but causes harm to the environment alongside the imbalance of the ecosystem. The current situation of this endangerment should be focused on as a serious issue and one should take initiatives to spread the word through every media possible to protect the ecosystem from the extinction of our national animal-The Tiger. Steps should be taken on reduced use of rubber, paper , timber and various other forest derived utilities in order to protect the ecosystem and also to help wild animals like tigers sustain their forest homes. The negligence the Govt. officials should be considered as a serious issue and should be curbed.
@Reshma: I agree!!!
Yes i truly agree with the fact that in some areas poachers are killing animals , because they dont have any other job....moreover as rightly said these ppl are doing it because there is demand for tigers..i think awareness can play a pivotal role in saving tigers rather the entire bio diversity.in the first place we should ourselves use forest products judiciously and effectively.hunters should be made aware of the current scenario and should be given jobs related to forest protection as they are very much aware about the forest...in this way they will get alternative job and animals can be saved.

U can give them jobs... however do you think that they would let go of poaching knowing that the job that they have would pay them far more less than what they are making now ?
SIR , i truly agree to the fact that convincing them will be a hard nut to crack. but i think if we put in our best efforts then we can definitely change their mindset.we can also fetch them an equally well paid jobs also.
